At Pickwick Family Dental Care, we use a state-of-the-art Panorex machine to capture detailed images of your entire jaw. This panoramic imaging technology allows us to see a comprehensive view of your mouth and supporting oral structures so that we can plan more effective treatments to meet your needs. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Don Walley or Dr. Glenda Walley and learn more about panoramic X-rays in Counce, Tennessee, and surrounding areas, including Savannah and Adamsville, Tennessee, and Corinth and Iuka, Mississippi, call us today at 731-689-3627.
Standard X-rays provide a view of a few teeth and the supporting bone structure. Panoramic X-rays provide a view of the complete upper and lower dental arches. Images captured by panoramic X-rays include all the teeth, the upper and lower jawbones, and the surrounding facial features. This allows us to diagnose a wide range of problems and plan effective treatments. Panoramic X-rays are commonly used to:
- Assess the need for orthodontic treatment and evaluate the progress of that treatment
- Diagnose impacted teeth
- Assess the development of periodontal disease and any resulting damage to your mouth
- Evaluate the jaw joint to diagnose and treat TMJ disorders
- Diagnose oral cancer
- Plan dental implant placement procedures
- Diagnose tooth decay and other dental problems
- Determine the extent of dental and facial trauma
- Detect problems such as cysts, abscesses and tumors
The imaging process for panoramic X-rays is completely non-invasive. You simply stand in place while the machine rotates around your head. The captured image is then transmitted instantaneously to a monitor so that our dentists can view them and make an informed diagnosis.
